Detailed Course Description

New York Safety Program (NYSP) Course is a 6-hour classroom course using behavior methodology to encourage the development of habits and behaviors associated with advanced driving skills. You will be guided by a certified instructor through five course segments of instruction using question and answer, role-playing, and other teaching techniques, augmented by video presentations.

The Driver Improvement Course has been approved by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NYSDMV or DMV) for Point Reduction and the Department of Insurance for Insurance Reduction in the state of New York. This course uses modern multimedia techniques in teaching the roles and responsibilities of the individual driver, traffic laws, as well as emergency and defensive driving methods. There are no tests to pass and there is no driving involved.

As a matter of fact, the NYSDMV has stated that "the final product now serves as a model for other programs," after an extensive 2 year review of NYSP's course content and training materials—an endorsement valued highly by NYSP.
